Bringing it back to the roots. What MVA game did yall spend the most time playing over the years? What made it so fun to play? Unleashed. Hands Down. No other game has come close IMO. Best racing, definitely had the highest "fun" factor out of all the games. Reflex would have been a lot closer had the dirt / ruts been better, and if there wasn't this constant feeling that you were racing on ice. LoL

Thanks Curt, that's a bummer.
Certainly spent more time on Unleashed that any other game! I did enjoy Untamed a fair amount but never could get the hang of Reflex or Alive.
I am looking forward to this new game. I hope to catch up with you all soon!

I had a blast on Unleashed as well. The Champs series really lit the MVA fire for me. I think Reflex was fun with the voice chat. With Reflex ruts you never knew what was going to happen. The bike setup was critical for those long rough TWT motos. Finding that happy medium setup had doing alot of testing and tuning on the weekends.

Had they have just improved on the base that they had with Reflex, I think they would have had much more success. For example: If MVA Alive would have been Reflex with better terrain deformation, and better traction, with improved rider to rider collision it would have been cool.
Personally, I think they kept trying to change too much. Every installment of MVA is vastly different than its predecessor. I think had they had stuck with MVA Unleashed, and just improved online, added voice, implemented better graphics, implemented rider reflex, terrain deformation, etc. . . they would have a much better fan following and much more successful game (IMO).
Every long lasting game series (Halo, Gran Turismo, Call of Duty) has kept the same formula, and just improved on the world around the game (levels, graphics, new cars, guns, etc...) and has done very well. Those game makers didn't completely re-design their already successful game from the ground up each time a new installment came out. Had any of them done that, I don't think their games would be as popular.
I understand that they were trying to give fans what they wanted, which was a more realistic MX game... but personally I don't think the fans will ever know what they want. They "Think" they know what they want, but if you had read some of the suggestions over the years of what people wanting in Rainbow / THQ to implement into gameplay, the were straight up stupid and unrealistic for a video game. In other words, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
Lets say Unleashed had the same online playability / smoothness as Alive, the only thing that was "wrong" with the game was the ability for people to cut a good portion of the track.
Then they came out with Untamed. Not only where there the glitched "whiskey throttles" that made competition almost impossible (the really good players could jump and entire rhythm lane / section of a supercross track without ever setting down until the next corner), there were hay bails of death that shot across the tracks, and there was still some track cutting that allowed you to cut much larger portions of the track than in Unleashed.
The only problem with Reflex was the crap terrain deformation (after 5 laps, it was a matter of who could stay up the longest without crashing would win), and the lack of traction.
Alive . . . well, I won't start on that, for the list is too long. Though, since I was good at Alive . . . all of the frustrating parts of the game were a little less frustrating for me because I was winning LoL. Though, the times that I didn't win because of the frustrating parts... well lets just say that I was frustrated with the game. LoL
Hopefully they have ironed out everything in MVA SX. They said they have gone back, and re-played all of the games, and took the best parts of all of the games and combined them. Let's hope that the formula is right, and that they stick with it, and stop creating brand new games from the ground up and develop a good base.

Wider SX tracks in this game. The AMA Outdoor Nationals went super narrow this year. Not a fan of narrow outdoor tracks.

The MX vs ATV supercross games have been the go-to titles for fans of dirt bikes and ATV's for some time. We were able to go hands-on with the newest title hitting the PlayStation 3, PC, OS X, Linux, and Xbox 360 on August 7th. The game will actually be releasing for $29.99, which should make the game more inviting for what sounds like a deep experience. We were able to ask a few questions to the President and CEO of Big Bang Entertainment (the developers behind the game) Ken George.
1. You had mentioned there being licensed parts, how many different major manufacturers will we see in the game?
First off, we wanted to make sure all of the companies that appear in MX vs. ATV Supercross are currently a part of the community already, be it manufacturing gear or sponsoring riders, events, etc. We didn’t want anyone in the game that was outside the sport because it might just look out of place to our fans. We ended up turning down some great opportunities and still ended up with more than 80 authentic brands from the industry in the game.
It’s cool to outfit your rider and customize your bike with the same gear, parts and graphics kits you can buy at your local race shop. Wheels, tires, exhaust, and other upgrades really help you personalize the look of your ride.
2. Besides the parts, how many licensed bike manufacturers will be in the game?
We haven’t announced the OEM bike list yet, because we have one or two last contracts to ink. I can say that I couldn’t be happier about the OEM lineup for MX vs. ATV Supercross, and we have a special announcement planned once we have our final OEM contract signed.
3. Will there be a career mode and what can we expect from that or any other single player modes?
Yes! MX vs. ATV Supercross features several choices of series to run. For bikes, you start out in the 250 West series, then 250 East, and finally your can run a full 17 race season on the big 450s. We also offer similar series for ATVs as well as our namesake MX vs. ATV series.
As you progress through the seasons, you’ll unlock new parts to upgrade the look and performance of your bike.
4. What multiplayer options will be available?
MX vs. ATV Supercross supports 12 players online as well as local two player split screen so you sit on the couch and go head to head with your buddy. We’ve have some pretty heated battles in the office with these modes already J
5. Has any thought gone into implementing a track editor?
We’ve talked about a track editor for MX vs. ATV Supercross but had too many other important items to get in the game first. Not surprisingly, we’ve discussed it with each of or releases, and we’re all big fans of UGC in our previous games.
6. What separates this version from previous versions?
We went back to all of our previous games in the series and took a hard look at what made each of them unique and appealing. In addition, we interviewed and watched some of today's top professional riders play the games at the studio and gathered their feedback on what they really liked, didn't like, and would like to see in the upcoming release. MX vs ATV Supercross has elements from the last four releases paying homage to what we feel really makes for a fun and engaging game from the real time track deformation seen in Reflex and Alive to the way the clutch and pre-load function from Unleashed and Untamed. The physics and gameplay have been reworked and tuned to give the game its own personality from the others. We were fortunate enough to bring back one of the track designers from the Motocross Madness days up to Unleashed to design tracks along with our other track designer that has been around since MX vs ATV Untamed. Both of these guys have their own style and perspective on track design which offers a very diverse set of tracks and difficulty.
7. What is the benefits of each the ATV and the Motocross bikes?
We tried to capture the benefits of real ATVs and Motocross bikes in our MX vs. ATV Supercross. In real life, ATVs hook up better and corner better on flat surfaces, but bikes corner better in the berms and jump significantly better because of the weight savings. We brought the strengths of each in the game while making each of them relatively competitive.
8. Will there be official AMA riders in the game?
We’re excited about having more than 60 pro riders including many of the biggest names in MX vs. ATV Supercross. We’re fans of the sport as and having all these fantastic riders want to be in our game is a huge honor!

What it is fellas?! Good to hear from you all. So yea, I'm getting this game. Gonna own you fools! Hahaha maybe... The game I played the most tork, was Mx unleashed. Not Mx vs ATV unleashed. I played Mx unleashed the most. But since I got online with you guys, I would say that mva was getting the most hours. J still play it once in a while. On PC I still make my own tracks. Lol.

Hahaha. Been up to a bunch of crap lately. Fixing my dirt bike, racing RC cars, building my Baja bug, working on the house, taking classes, and of course, happy time! Hahaha. Can't wait for this game. I think it will bring alot of familiar faces back. Looks fun. Better then what we have now. Lol.

Busy guy! I hope you are enjoying your summer. Yes if this MX vs ATV Supercross game is fun I would be interested starting the Two Wheel Tuesday weekly races back up for us. The screenshots look decent similiar to Alive.
