actually i would think that race bikes are taken better care of vs. some backyard beater. if u race u are probably more likely to keep ur bike runnin really good and wenever it breaks down racers will probably fix it right away.

It just depends on who the racer is. I had known this guy from before, he had sold an SX125 to one of my buddys and damn was that thing sweet. That was about 4 years ago, one of the sweetest smokers I ever rode. He never had A single problem with it, that's what gave me confidence on buying the thing. I would've never been able to put in all the sh*t it has. The suspension itself is worth about 2 Gs, engine is modded out, and lots of other extras. I've had it for over a year now, and I try to ride at least once a week when possible. The thing is still in perfect condition, all I've had to do is adjust the valves. I just had a full check up on it last month. Mechanic told me he wants to ride the thing, (mechanic rides 450 expert) He was amazed at the suspension and engine work. He told me the bike still gots long life on it. I know a pro is goin to give the bike HELL, but a race bike will always be better taken care of than a practice bike. I did get to see both his practice bike and race bike. So I believe him, I love my bike and don't plan on gettn a new one any time soon... Just my .02 ;D

One thing I guess would be that a pro racer is gonna be a hella lot harder on the bike then most of us would be. So what might last a few months for one of them could last a year for us.

i have a old pro factory yamaha quad and they are way better taken care than most bikes out there. yea, they ride em like they stole them, but they are only used for a couple, few races and rotated out. plus every time they race em they get rebuilt motor and shock for the next race. they have guyz that work on the bike and thats there job.

well hilly, i am sure the bikes cost more then the quads, the factories throw more money at the bike side of the sport and i for one couldnt afford that kind of money, but, i do have one of the 06 factory yamaha mx quads. i bought it directly from the racer. its got some crazy stuff on it that the public cant even get. but it was under 10gs so i didnt spend crazy money on it, after all, it is a used bike right. just cuz they have that much cash in it doesnt really mean they can get that out of it. im just saying that if you have a choice between a factory bike or a built up backyard racer, youd get the factory bike even if it does cost a lil more wouldnt ya?

well...lol..i would personally rather build up my own bike..u prolly think im jus sayin this to disagree with u but in reality..i would much rather take all the extra money id spend on the factory bike and jus put a full 4.1 fmf exhaust system get some nice wheels and maybe a few things to make it look better..but all i need is a bike that run ok..and im good

oh yea, in a perfect world id rather buy a new bike and put all the stuff that i want on it. but the route i went was still cheaper than then buying new. just the cost of the new quad and the shocks would put me over what i got the quad for. but i know, bikes are a totally different ball game. they are much closer to being race ready than a atv. atvs are really expensive to get them into mx trim. but i gotta have my training wheels. lol.
