Hey Jim, I was trying to communicate this past week with FlyingRyanLuza. His connection is below average this makes it hard on the rest of us. I think it is his router. Any ideas? I'm not sure Tork. I race with Luza often on PURE and DiRT2 and have never had a problem. I did discover today however, that my internet speed is way slow. I will be changing providers this week.

Do you know what type of connection he has? If its cable and not a screaming speed it could just be a peak time when alot of customers in his node (equipment that feeds a certain amount of customers) are online. I hit close to 20mb late at night when I play but during the afternoon I have hit as low as 3mb. DSL consists of alot of different variables that can effect its quality but it isnt the same issue that cable can have because a DSL line feeds one customer only. If he has DSL let me know. I have a bunch of options to make it run alot better.

OK man, sounds good. I am just trying to help things run smoother for us. Reflex can be tough sometimes with the mics and everyone hauling ass.
I had my setup on WiFi. But, this past week I ran some CAT 6 to my PS3. The WiFi connection is convenient but its performance is not up to par. Hard wire is the only way to do this stuff IMO. So I should be a solid host from now on.

I have a bunch of options to make it run alot better. I'm not sure about Luza but I am using DSL as it has been the only option available to me. My performance specs: Download speed - 1334 kbps Upload Speed - 481 kbps Ping - 124 ms Pretty dismal, but I found a provider that will set me up with cable internet at: Download Speed - 2.3 mbps Upload Speed - 2.3 mbps I'm gonna try to get it set up asap.

The thing with DSL is that footage/distance greatly reduces the speed as it goes farther out towards the customer. One thing as a customer you can do is request that your phone company install a splitter and install a dedicated wire and jack for your modem. Unless you do this your basically running your DSL throughout your house which I have seen personally, cuz its my job, destroy DSL speed. Also, if you live close to or in town there is a high probabilty that not only is your phone cable that feeds your terminal going to you but also continuing on down the street adding footage to your line. You can complain of poor speeds to your phone company and they SHOULD send someone out to completely test it. Thats what we do anyway.

No problemo my Texan friend. I understand your frustrations. Its so hard to race against someone who lag hops. You think you passed them and all of a sudden they take you out in a corner cuz you didnt know they were actually there. Garberdsp has the same issues. I passed him and had a 5 second gap and he literally appeared right in front of me in a corner taking me out. Good times lol.

Oh and Jim you may find that at peak time your cable connection could slow down to a crawl simply due to usage throught your area. If I can drop from 20,000 kbps to 3,000 kbps depending on the time im on just think what yours could end up doing. I would honestly see what your phone company can do for you first. Just my 2 cents lol.

Thanks for the help Balls. I discovered yesterday that at this time there are no plans from my current internet provider to allow higher speed internet in my area. What is unfortunate is that I live in a HOA that has a proprietary internet provider that offers very unreliable cable internet. The DSL I have is independent of the HOA. Also, I leaned the DSL lines in my area are fiber optic. SO it would seem that in the next couple of years perhaps the DSL speeds could go up dramatically. They simply need to offer the service in the area. As of now, I only am able to get the slowest DSL service they offer.
It seems to work ok so I'll just keep pluggin' along.

Yeah Jim your connection might not be that bad anyways rated told me that you hosted dirt 2 pretty good last night. I think it just the game in pure but I notice but not sure because I haven't raced it to long is in pure your connection just might not be good enough for 16 people it only seems like in a full room you see people get booted but who knows it could be their internet also or just the game.
Also probably a good idea stay with your current one internet like balls said if some else jumped on the internet around you you might see some really bad speeds. I think I am lucky where I am I pay for 8mb download from comcast and usually get 25mb. ;D
