Heck ya this shot right here is why Im going to get a PS3 when this game hits the shelves. Maybe the good people at Sony will drop the PS3 price some more before then. Think how good the Hondas are going to look. Im hoping for a two stroke in the line-up. 2007 CR250R would be perfect.

E3 07: MX vs. ATV Untamed Impressions We don our helmets and kick up some dirt in the first next-gen installment of THQ's arcade racing series. By Kevin VanOrd, GameSpot Posted Jul 11, 2007 6:38 pm PT Crazy-awesome physics have helped make a name for Rainbow Studios' offroad racing series, but as you would expect from a developer taking their well-known franchise into the future, the studio isn't content to rest on those laurels. We had a chance to see MX vs. ATV Untamed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in action today, and were pleased to see more than just updated visuals. Fans of the series should find plenty to enjoy when the game is released early next year. Speaking of physics, the studio is rightfully proud of their newly built physics engine. While we didn't get a chance to get our hands on the game, we did enjoy how the physics impacted the visuals. The suspension of the ATV we saw in action bounced realistically, and it was the most noticeable tweak in the vehicle models we saw. At other times, opponent vehicles ran into guard rails and other objects, sending them careening into the player vehicle. In short, if you play MX vs. ATV because you love the bouncy arcade physics, you won't be disappointed by the 360 and PS3 versions of Untamed. There is more to distinguish the game from its predecessors, however. While the modes in Unleashed will find their way into Untamed, a newly added mode called OpenCross will allow players to explore the huge, wide-open maps Rainbow is creating. In past installments, you weren't able to explore every nook and cranny of the map and were generally confined to a small course. OpenCross drops you into a large map and gives you plenty of room to explore alternate routes to your destination. These huge tracks will take you through streams, across bridges, through sharp turns and more, and give you plenty of room to explore your own route from point A to point B. Another new mode is EnduroCross, and it reminds us somewhat of an obstacle course designed for bikes and ATVs. Here, you will navigate across various natural hindrances and a few man-made ones, such as piles of tires. XCross is the one that intrigues us most, though. It's essentially a self-tailored career mode that lets you choose various gameplay modes that best suit your style. It's a flexible mode, and should provide a lot of variety in your career. Revamped artificial intelligence should provide a greater challenge for most players. Rather than using so-called rubber-band AI, computer-controlled vehicles will be assigned a level of expertise, and from there, vehicles will take any of the various routes available to them. Many players will want to join competitors online though, and Untamed supports up to 12 players in a race—twice the number that could play in Unleashed. The most impressive aspect of the multiplayer design was the setup of online lobbies. While you wait for players to join or wait for the race to load, you aren't stuck in a static lobby. Instead, you and your buddies can drive around an open course, doing wheelies and trash talking before the match even begins. OpenCross multiplayer games can also be created to remain persistent, so if you want to tool around with others, you can do so at your leisure, and the game will remain open until the host shuts it down. MX vs. ATV looks like a next-gen racing game should. Vehicle models are crisp and the draw distance is quite good. It was the small things that caught our eye: Vehicles cast shadows on themselves and each other, and if you are driving in first-person view, mud will splatter against your visor. Other effects include depth of field focusing and motion blur, though Rainbow Studios is trying to keep these effects subtle so that they fit the overall scope of the game. The sound design holds some equally restrained touches. For example, the sound becomes muffled in the first-person view, where a helmet is obviously shielding your ears. Even better? The airborne vehicles from Unleashed are gone for good, which shouldn't surprise players who struggled to control them. If you've liked previous games in the MX vs. ATV series, the newest version should give you exactly the fix you are looking for. We'll bring you more news on Untamed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as its handheld, Wii and PS2 counterparts, as it develops. www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/mxvsatvuntamed/news.html?sid=6174403&om_act=convert&om_clk=newlyadded&tag=newlyadded;title;1

E3 2007: MX vs. ATV Untamed It's time to get dirty. by Hilary Goldstein July 12, 2007 - Rainbow Studios is bringing MX vs. ATV to next-gen. The popular series, published by THQ, returns this winter on PS3 and Xbox 360 in MX vs. ATV Untamed. For those who don't know the series, this is not your standard track racer. You can go offtrack if you like and explore the world beyond anytime you like. And while racing point-to-point is the most likely way you'll enjoy MX vs. ATV, you can also pull of motorcross tricks like a pro just for the pure joy of it. The career mode, X-Cross, is a branching path that allows gamers to choose the event types they prefer most. Rainbow doesn't want gamers to ever be forced to race with vehicles they dislike or play game modes they detest. You can pick and choose your way through X-Cross, though some of the events will try to expose you to some new vehicles you might not have considered in the past. Still, it's all about gamers controlling their own experience. We checked out a couple of races to see how MX vs. ATV hangs in the next-gen realm. While the visuals are crisp and the cars look nice, MX vs. ATV doesn't quite have the pop of a Motorstorm. But where it may lack in high-tier eye candy it makes up for in different modes and the freedom to do as you please. Things begin without a loading screen. Instead of having to sit through a boring screen, you are instantly placed into a practice area. You can get a feel for your ride (and any of the tuning you might have done) while waiting for the load. If you are having so much fun that you don't want to hop into a race just yet, don't worry. Once the track is fully loaded, you can choose when to leave the practice area. That same area acts as the lounge for online games. Both PS3 and 360 support up to 12 players online or on LAN/System Link. The first go on the track we watched a lap-based race. The AI has a few interesting tweaks that make them appear a bit more like human racers. The AI is designed to be smart, but to react as individuals rather than in a pack mentality. To help make the vehicles appear to be driven by something other than a computer, Rainbow is simulating their driving with a controller. Just as you hold a trigger for gas, so to does the AI simulation. You turn with an analogue input, so does the AI. That means you can get sloppy turns and other natural driving mishaps as any human racer would. If you're in a race and you see something in the distance that piques your interest, you can go exploring. Quit the race and continue on your own, doing whatever you like. Switch vehicles on the fly and have fun with some true offroading. The second race we watched was an Endurocross. This is a real race that had to be licensed for the game. Set in a stadium, like a supercross, the Endurocross' track features offroad elements. Logs, rocks, and even pools of water are placed throughout the track to make things a little interesting. MX vs. ATV features two engine classes (2-stroke and 4-stroke), which are promised to feel different when racing. There's a lot of customization offered. You can switch up your livery, perform minor tuning, and different racing unis. MX vs. ATV untamed is, again, all about racing how you want, the way you want. It's your choice, go tear up the track. What we saw of MX vs. ATV Untamed looked promising. But, as with any racing game, the proof is in how it feels with a controller in your hand. We look forward to the chance to spend some quality time with MX vs. ATV Untamed. Let's hope the wait isn't too long. ps3.ign.com/articles/804/804633p1.html
