"Sony says 25 million more accounts hacked." (Non U.S accounts)
How is it that 25 million more accounts have been hacked if this hack occurred before the one that led Sony to shut down the PSN?
Sony also has stated that the hackers did get Credit Card info and other personal information from their 2007 data bases. So the information they got is outdated, though warned uses that debit cards and credit cards still have bank information on them that customers still currently use. Sony also said that billing addresses were also obtained.
I think Sony is doing some major "cover up" and playing "dumb." I think they know the extent of the hack, and also how much information really was obtained, whether it was from 2007 or current. I don't think that hackers would break into Sony and steal the "old stuff." Thats like breaking into a car dealership and stealing the used, old, and worthless cars...
If it wasn't this serious, I don't think that the PSN would be down for such a long time. This is actually a strange situation, I've been hacked, but do not have internet! LoL
I've watched some video's of the "Anonymous" group... checked out their website etc... They claim that they did not do this "hack," Sony claims they did and found a file for proof... Some believe "Anonymous" is being "set-up." Though I think it is just a big blaming game.
Maybe the hack wasn't as bad as Sony said it is, and is just trying to get enough people ticked at "Anonymous" that legal action takes place. Maybe the hack was a lot worse than Sony said it was and "Anonymous" is just saying it wasn't them to get people ticked at Sony... I don't think we will ever know.
Though what I find strange is: "Anonymous" has a YouTube channel (a few of them), and they also have a web site. I used to know a kid in high school that could "fish" IP addresses from web sites, and e-mails... I don't know what the technical term is called but he could basically find out the IP's that had been on that site. I know that every site keeps record of IP's that have visited, (even ours). I believe its called a "digital footprint." I also know with accounts such as YouTube you do have to give some Information to be able to have an account. I guess what I am trying to get to is the "Anonymous" group is being way too public about this whole thing. If this was a crime scene, it would be equivalent to us seeing all of their footprints, fingerprints, and them leaving us a note saying who did it and where they live. Does that make sense to do that if you are committing a crime?
I think the story (as we know it) is a bit shady, with some big gaps missing... I do know that if "Anonymous" is behind this, and they are doing it for the reasons that they say that they are doing it: Sony is infringing on our rights by obtaining and possibly selling personal information, and not using / attacking PSN users information; then I support what they are doing. They are like digital "Robin Hoods" and or just like Vendetta, from V for Vendetta... trying to "free" the enslaved and do away with the wrong doers.
I guess we'll see...
