Sweet man, I had to send my 80gb back to Sony for over heating too. Lucky it was in warranty at the time. No more problems since the repair.
Glad your back in action.

Anybody having problems with their PS3 this evening? I can't connect to the network and the machine won't recognize downloadable content. It simply won't even play DiRT 2. It says it has something to do with the trophy information. Error code: 8001050F The PSN forum is talking about the problem. May be related to the February 28-29 leap year issue???

The latest from Sony.
As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.
We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.
Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000. * When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”. * When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.” * When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)” * Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.
As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
For the latest status on this situation please continue to check either the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

Interrsting... I saw on one of the PSN forums last night that someone thought it might be related to the leap year (Feb. 28-29) issue. I did notice when my system began acting up that the date and time were reset back to December 31 of '99. I manually reset my date and time. I hope I didn't mess anything up by doing so. Did someone say X-BOX?

YA xbox but then we would be with out for weeks having to send it for RROD. IF this is a leap year or what ever it is sony should have it fix within a day. what we do before online gaming. lol.
The clock you change isn't the problem its the clock that is in the motherboard bios that we can't get to so that clock you change shouldn't hurt any thing. You can reset the clock and have your ps3 but you have to take your ps3 apart and pull out battery on the motherboard but will have to do it again in 3 years. I think I just wait for Sony to fix it.

I was seriously thinking of getting the 360 Elite due to this problem. It is total BS, how is it that I can't even play ANY games at all. I used to have ps3 on my good side but they are definitely asking for a switch. This is BS!!!

So yeah, I got an error code today: "80010514" - also known as the "Code of Death" and my PS3 wont play my games or blu-ray movies. Did some research and found out that this code comes up for two reasons: 1) You have hardware issues. (This can be fixed) 2) Your blue ray lens quit working. - This cannot be fixed without sending it in to Sony for $150 plus $30 shipping plus Tax. What sucks is my extended warranty through Best Buy expired a month ago, and Sony refuses to admit that there is any problem's with their consol, despite the fact that this has happened to HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people.
Lost all of my lap time's... since I don't have internet in my new apt (neither do any of my neighbors so I can't bum anymore) it was the only thing to "strive" for.
Just letting yall know that it will be a looong time before yall see me again. Take care.
