do you guys ever remove the hardrive and clean out the ps3 with some compressed air or air hose of some sort? i do that periodicly to both my ps3 and 360. never seem to have a problem with anything. could be that there is a build up of dust bunnies kinda klogging up the works a bit. give it a shot, and let it sit out for over night. if your stuffs ruined already, what more can you hurt? lol (f.y.i.- be very gentle if you remove the hard drive from the ps3. shes a fragile little girl.)

Actually my Hard Drive is fine, I can still turn on my PS3 and access everything, and play the demo's, and if I had internet connection that my PS3 could pick up, I would still be able to download demo's and stuff. The code I got is associated with the Blu-Ray player.
What happens is the blu-ray player starts to quit working, at first it would start up my games, and sometimes even let me load a track, but then the blu-ray player would slow down causing the disc not to spin as fast and would make the game freeze. Now the blu-ray player doesn't even work.
Since my PS3 is out of warranty I've thought about buying a broken PS3 from e-bay and hope it has working blu-ray player and just swapping them out, but that is kinda risky because they are sold "as is" and you never know if it is going to work or not, and a new blu-ray player for the PS3 is a bit pricey.
Also I've been told there is a security screw that requires a special screw driver that I don't have. They also sell PS3's on e-bay without a hardrive as a "broken item" and I've thought about just putting my hardrive in there... again a bit riskey, but I need the cash to do that first.

oh ok, I've never tried to take my PS3 apart - I've just read that there is a security screw that requires a special screw driver.
Yeah, I've read on some forums and also been told by a manager at Game Stop that a lot of the new "Updates" have been causing a lot of hardware issues.
Sony has released statements addressing the "problems" that people have had with their PS3's calling them "Mass Coincidences."
I'm sure something happened that cause more stress on my blu-ray player to make it go out... but I've also read that it is just simply a problem that earlier generation PS3's have been having. I bought my PS3 a year after it had already been out.
To me I think the whole thing is screwy. There are 107 MILLION hits on google in relation to the error code that I have, yet Sony Playstation REFUSES to admit that there is anything wrong with their console.
I am sure one day when I am able to afford a new PS3 or blu-ray player I will get one...
Right now though I've been playing Smash Bro's Brawl on the Wii with 6 or so other guys that I know a couple of times a week. Smash Bro's is a highly addictive game and it has a HUGE fun factor. So I kinda want a Wii now, instead of trying to fix the PS3...
I kick but with Snake (from the Metal Gear Solid series) Solid Snake is an EXTREMELY powerful character! ;D

Update: No silly season news but, since this is the last place that I talked about the University getting a PS3, I figured I would give and update: They will be renting out controllers for $1 and hour, they broke one of the screens (top left) when installing it, so it should be next week before they get the new TV in. Until then they are not letting anyone use it. The hours that will be available to me to use it are: Mon - Thur : 9:30 - 8:30 Fri - 9:30 - 5:00 Sat - 1:00 - 5:00 Sunday - 3:30 - 7:30 I am not sure how well I will be able to play on such a huge surface area, but we will see. I will be sure to let yall know when I will be on ;D SO here is the latest edition to the university's club room: It is an HD Sony Projector, that looks WAY better than all of those TV's, as well as it is a lot bigger than all of the TV's combined. So there is a 2 seperate X-BOX360 and PS3 hooked up to both units above. The bad news is though, that even though they have them hooked up, they have to get a Public Gaming liscence from Each of the game makers / brands. Because they will be charging people to play games, they have to get permission from those game makers to allow them to charge. So I could play them right now, if they would let me play for free, but that is not going to happen. Also, if they are not able to get one from THQ or Rainbow studio's, then I will not be able to play Reflex. The manager told me that the earliest that the PS3 and X-BOX360's will be available to the public (like me) is Novemeber... so looks like no go for me right now... I'll keep yall updated...

Hey guys, some good news here! My wife, who graduated in August with her accounting degree landed a job at a major accounting firm! (Praise GOD)
Now that she has a job, we can start paying down the insane amount of debt that we have acquired!
Also, my wife gave me the "go ahead" to get my PS3 fixed (found a web site that with re-pair's, parts, and shipping, should be around $150, which is cheaper than sending it to SONY just to get a refurb...)
So I can't get my PS3 fixed yet because she wants me to focus on school for the rest of the semester, so it is looking like I will get it fixed towards the end of November.
Now this does not guarantee that I am going to get Internet, but we have talked about it ;D

Thanks Tork! ;D I look foward to racing with you guys too!
Picking back up on Reflex doesn't seem like it is going to be as easy as hittin those fast laps on Unleashed ;D
Maybe I will just be a little bit ahead of yall instead of WAY ahead of yall... LOL Just Kidding ;D

LOL I hear you man, Reflex is so unpredictable anything can happen, during a race. That is why it is so fun. The guy with the fastest lap time doesnt always win. What is more important now is the holeshot and first corner.

Yeah... Holeshots are so random on this game... it really depends on where the game places you as far as gate pick goes... it is really important on most tracks.
IDK about winning though, afte 11 months of no PS3 (by the time I get it fixed) and no Reflex, I am just going to be glad to get out there and complete some laps ;D (Though still no word on if we are going to get internet...)
I'll be way in the back of the pack just sight seeing LoL

The PS3 repair shop let me know yesterday that they recieved my PS3 and checked it out and it needs a new Blu-Ray / DVD player. So I went ahead and told them to fix it and paid them for it. $140 later I should have a working PS3 ;D I am not sure when it is going to be ready, I think they had to order the part. I will probably call today and check up and see when I am getting back. CAN'T WAIT! As far as internet goes, my wife said that we aren't going to get it. A good friend of ours lives in the appartment building accross from ours, and they have wireless internet, the only problem is that their network was setup by some tech savy guy who made thier network private, and I can't get onto it (I can't find the network, or join onto it even when I type in the network name... Trust me I've tried!) So I just kinda excepted that it was doomed for me to the get the NET at our APT. THEN I realized something! I've had a wireless router sitting in a box since 2007 (linksys). I can hook up my wireless router to their wireless router and set up my own network with my wireless router! Becuase all my wireless router needs is an internet connection, and I can run an ethernet cable from the back of thier wireless router into my wireless router. The linksys router that I have has a range of 100-150ft, and since their building is a little far from ours, I got a measuring tape and measured the distance from their apt to my front door! LoL (I'm sure people were wondering what I was doing) The grand total distance was 65 feet, so that SHOULD give me the ability to connect to internet. I have no clue why I didn't think of this a couple of months ago? I've not asked them yet, nor have I had time to even try to make it work, but I don't see why they wouldn't let me, since they said that I could use thier internet anytime I needed. So I will keep yall posted on how it all works out ;D
